Luba Chemical progressing its pyridine industry chain strategy

Recently the 2 wholly owned subsidiaries of China agchem company Shandong Luba Chemical Co.,Ltd (LubaChemicals) – Shandong Tianfeng Biotechnology Ltd and Shandong Keke Chemicals Ltd are respectively renamed Dezhou Luba Fine Chemicals Ltd (Dezhou Luba) and Ji’nan Luba Pesticide Ltd (Ji'nan Luba),showing a further step of Luba Chemical’s pyridine industry chain development initiative.

Shandong Tianfeng Biotechnology Ltd (presently Dezhou Luba) is one of China’s earliest organophosphorous pesticide producers and the largest benzoylurea insecticide vendor, major products covering hexaflumuron, chlorfluazuron and diflubenzuron. In 2011 Luba Chemcial acquired Shandong Tianfeng, which was then positioned to be the technical pesticide production base of Luba Chemical. Besides its conventional pesticide production, a  chlorpyrifos  project  based the new technology of  four pyridine chloride method was introduced. Meanwhile the diquat production capacity was extended and the malathion production process was renovated.

Shandong Keke Chemicals Ltd（presently Ji’nan Luba）is a formulation producer, being capable of processing a large variety of formulations such as emulsifiable concentrate, liquid, emulsion in water, micro-emulsion, micro-capsule, suspended agent and wettable powder with over 60 registered formulation products and sales network across all corners of China.  In 2012 Luba Chemical acquired Keke Chemicals and restructured its business, which was then developed into the formulation processing base of Luba Chemcial while taking charge of the distribution of formulation products in China.

Moreover Luba Chemcial’s third subsidary - Weifang Luba Chemicals Ltd (Weifang Luba) assumes responsibility for intermediates processing, mainly producing pyridine-based compounds like pyridine, 3 - methyl pyridine and 2 - methyl pyridine.

Via its deployment of Weifang Luba, Dezhou Luba and Ji'nan Luba, in upstream, midstream and downstream chains, Luba Chemical has shaped a complete industry chain covering production and marketing which starts from pyridine intermediates up to pesticide technical and formulations. The company’pyridine compounds production has reached a certain level and scale, having stepped into the global top 5 producers.

Striving to be a technology-driven pesticide producer, the present product range of Luba Chemcial includes paraquat, diquat, haloxyfop-methyl, fluazifop-p-butyl, fluroxypyr and cyhalofop-butyl. It is expected that in the 1 or 2 years ahead, the  product line will include chlorpyrifos, picloram, florasulam, penoxsulam, pyraclostrobin and fluopicolide.
