China’s pesticide production increased by 2.9% to some 583,000 tonnes in first two months of 2013, representing first single-digit growth after consecutive double-digit growth, according to the data from National Bureau of Statistics of China.

Herbicides, the largest category, were considered as the growth driver, with production increased by 11.8% to 266,000 tonnes, accounting for 45.6% of total production. Insecticide production fell by 9.0% to 122,000 tonnes, making up 20.9% of total production, while fungicide production dropped 13.3% to 20,000 tonnes, accounting for only 3.4% of total production.
