Dow AgroSciences announces that former Indiana Director of Agriculture Joseph Kelsay will join its Global Regulatory and Government Affairs Team as Senior Manager, Biotechnology Affairs. Putting novel, sustainable solutions in the hands of farmers has never been more important, and Kelsay’s proven leadership within agriculture will be integral to advancing the company’s growth strategy.
"As a life-long agricultural producer and champion for agriculture, Joe brings great insights, knowledge and experience to this role,” says Brad Shurdut, Global Leader, Biotechnology Regulatory and Government Affairs. “As Dow AgroSciences develops and introduces novel technologies necessary to meet the demands of a growing population, Joe will be instrumental in engaging value chain stakeholders and leading advocacy and outreach activities that enable the timely introduction of these technologies.”
Kelsay served as the director of Indiana’s State Department of Agriculture since 2009. Kelsay is also partner of Kelsay Farm Tours LLC which teaches families about life on the farm. In 2012, Kelsay served as President of the Midwest Association of State Departments of Agriculture as well as the Food Export Association of the Midwest USA. He has also served on The Dean of Agriculture’s Advisory Council at Purdue University, The Indiana State Department of Agriculture’s Advisory Board, and The Indiana Future Farmers of America (FFA) Board of Directors. Kelsay holds a degree in agricultural economics from Purdue University and is a 2008 graduate of the Indiana AgrIInstitute--Indiana’s premiere agricultural leadership program.
