On the 47th meeting of Central Insecticides Board held on 20th December, 2012 in New Delhi, 7 new pesticides were recommended for inclusion in the Schedule to the Insecticides Act, 1968.
These 7 pesticides include 4 herbicides, 1 fungicide, 1 plant growth regulator and 1 biopesticide. Herbicide, tefuryltrione, from Industries Ltd, is used in paddy field against sulfonylurea tolerane weeds as well as annual and perennial weeds. Mesotrione is a HPPD inhibiting herbicide from Syngenta India. Makhteshim Agan India’s fluorochloridone is a herbicide for used on potato, sunflower and deciduous fruit crops. Quizalofop-P-ethyl is a herbicide from Rural Development & Agricultural Research Society. Oxathiapiprolin is a fungicide from DuPont India which has eradicant and anti-sporulant activity. Flumetralin from Crystal Crop Protection is a plant growth regulator for used on tobacco for control of axillary bud (sucker) growth. The last one, American Wormseed oil, Chenopodium oil, ECANA and ECANA Mimic, is a bioinsecticide/bioacaricide from Bayer CropScience, which is for used on food crops and commercial ornamental crops.
