Chinese chemical company Zhejiang Xin'an Chemical's patent for the preparation of solid glyphosate ammonium salt using organic solvent in extraction has been approved in the US. The patent application, which has been under review in the US for three years, had previously been granted in China, South Africa and Vietnam. High concentration glyphosate ammonium is a relatively recent development in the glyphosate herbicide market, Zhejiang Xin'an points out. Patent authorisation in the US is an internationally recognised indicator of a company's ability to innovate, the company adds.
