Dow AgroSciences got full registration of herbicide cloransulam-methyl (97.5%) in China early this month. The registration is valid for five years and to be expired on November 5th 2012, according to China Pesticide Registration Watch (November Issue) published by Agropages.
Cloransulam-methyl is a herbicide of Group 2 belong to sulfonamides with the action mode of inhibiting acetolactate synthase enzyme. Cloransulam-methyl is the active ingredient in Dow AgroSciences' FirstRate herbicide, a popular product for control of tough broadleaf weeds in soybeans registered by US and Canada in 1997 and 2001 respectively.
In 2000, Dow AgroSciences agreed to sell formulated cloransulam-methyl herbicide to Monsanto Company for resale. Monsanto sold a cloransulam-methyl herbicide product under the brand name Amplify beginning with the 2001 sales season.
