The Indian company Hikal Chemical crop protection sales rose by 26.7% to Rs. 73 crore ($13.5 million at the current rate) in the second quarter of 2012 ended September 30 as compared to Rs. 58 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous year. Sales of the first half year were up by 34.9% to Rs. 142 crore ($26.3 million) versus Rs. 105 crore last year.
Commenting on the results, Jai Hiremath, Chairman & Managing Director, Hikal Ltd. said, "The revenues from our crop protection business grew by 27% as the demand for our existing products was robust. We expect this situation to ease in the quarters to come. Overall the forecast from our customers is positive.”
