The Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority (APVMA) has proposed to approve BASF’s fungicide ametoctradin as a new active ingredient.

Ametoctradin, belonging to the triazolopyrimidylamine class of compounds, is a strong inhibitor of mitochondrial respiration in complex III (cytochrome bc1) of fungi belonging to the class oomycetes and has a new unique mode of action. BASF has got registrations for ametoctradin in UK in 2010 and in US last month, and Canada has also proposed to approve ametoctradin in September.

APVMA will accept public comment for this decision before 6th November.
