Valent U.S.A. Corporation announced Scott Halley has been named the Western seed protection specialist for the growing Valent seed protection research team.

"We believe Scott has the experience and the knowledge to do great things for Valent in building our future and, most importantly, to ultimately help reach our customers' needs," said Karen Arthur, Valent seed protection product development manager. "This is an exciting time for the seed protection team, and Scott will bring even more insight and knowledge to Valent."

Halley joins Valent at a critical time in the growth of the company's seed protection group. In the past five years, Valent has introduced six new seed protection offerings across soybeans, cereals, rice, cotton, sugar beets and other crops, including INOVATE
Seed Protectant, NipsIt INSIDE Insecticide, METLOCK Fungicide and the NipsIt SUITE products.

In his new role, Halley will be responsible for overseeing the regional research and field testing of new compounds, specifically in sugar beet and cereal crops, and in providing technical support for sales teams and customers in the Western U.S. region.

Halley comes to Valent with 11 years of experience with North Dakota State University. At the Langdon, ND, Research Extension Center, he worked as a program leader, evaluating research management strategies to reduce the effects of plant disease for area growers.

Arthur said Halley will be a key addition to support the company's growing presence in the seed protection industry.

"We are thrilled to have Scott on our seed protection research team," Arthur said. "His experience and knowledge in the field will only enhance our commitment to building our seed protection portfolio."

Halley has a bachelor's degree in agricultural economics and a master's degree in soil science, both from NDSU. He will be relocating to the Fargo, ND, area.
