China to build largest biological insecticide base

Recently the “He’nan natural plant extraction industrialization project” broke ground, which is invested by He’nan Boyi Investment Ltd and participated by the Chinese Ministry of Agriculture, Chinese Academy of Agro Sciences, He’nan Provincial Academy of Sciences.

The Project takes the advantage of tobacco resource in Nanyang City of He’nan Province, using tobacco as raw material to extract targeted active ingredients via sub-critical fluid extraction technology. The extracts are compounded to develop and produce low-toxic and low-residue biological insecticide while separation and purification technology is used to produce biological APIs (nicodin and solanesol). In addition, plant residues left over from production process are processed and turned into high-efficient and safe microbial organic fertilizer via aerobic composting technique.

The Project Phase 1 takes an investment of nearly Yuan 600 million, to be built in 1 year’s time. Upon completion, the annual raw material processing capacity is expected to reach 70,000 tons, out of which production volume of nicodin (purity above 98%), natural solanesol (purity above 90%), biological insecticide and microbial organic fertilizer will reach respectively 300 tons, 420 tons, 40,000 tons and 50,000 tons.
