Rivendell International is please to inform all of the beneficiaries of the newsletter that the company has been appointed to work with the authorities in the four Member States of MERCOSUR of South America (Argentina, Brazil, Uruguay, Paraguay) with the implementation of Globally Harmonised System (GHS) of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals. The project is part-funded by the European Union, and is in the initial stages. The GHS can play an essential role in presenting information about chemical hazards to users along the entire chemical supply chain by providing all countries with a consistent means of classifying and labeling hazardous chemicals. The primary benefit of the GHS is to increase the quality and consistency of information provided to workers, employers and chemical users by adopting a standardized approach to hazard classification, labels and safety data. This will lead to reduced need for testing and evaluation of chemicals and lower health care costs. This project called Econormas MERCOSUR is part of the Regional Indicative Programme RIP 2007-2013 of the European Unions's cooperation with MERCOSUR. It is split on three main areas:
• Support for the institutionalisation of MERCOSUR
• Support for the deepening of MERCOSUR
• Efforts to strengthen and enhance civil society participation and knowledge of the regional integration process
This is great news for Rivendell International and demonstrates the great work and service the company can provide as a specialist regulatory affairs consultancy company.
