The Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority (APVMA) has proposed the approval of Lineout Insecticide (active ingredients: flubendiamide + thiacloprid) from Bayer CropScience for control of cotton bollworm, native budworm and cotton aphid, and for suppression of green mirid, in cotton.
Flubendiamide, originally discovered by researchers from Nihon Nohyaku is the first commercial member of a new, promising class of insecticides called 1,2-benzenedicarboxamides or phthalic acid diamides, with exceptional activity against a broad spectrum of lepidopterous insects. Bayer got USA approval for fubendiamide in 2009. And thiacloprid, a neonicotinoid insecticide, was developed by Bayer CropScience for use on agricultural crops to control of a variety of sucking and chewing insects, primarily aphids and whiteflies.
Public comments for this APVMA's proposal will be closed on June 20th.
