Smithers to purchase ESG from Covance Laboratories

The US consulting company the Smithers Group announced an agreement to purchase the Environmental Sciences Group (ESG) from Covance Laboratories. Providing world-class scientific and regulatory expertise in product registration and risk assessment, the Environmental Sciences Group serves clients in the agrochemical, pharmaceutical, industrial chemical and animal health industries.

The Smithers Group is a global technology based services organization and each Smithers company focuses on a well-defined market. The Environmental Sciences Group will become part of the Smithers Viscient organization. Volker Bornemann, President of Smithers Viscient noted “The ESG acquisition is greatly enhancing our ability to service clients globally, but specifically in Europe and Asia.” He added, “Building upon our already diverse service offering, expanding our scope and capabilities is very exciting.”

Recognized globally, the Environmental Sciences Group provides a comprehensive range of environmental services including; Ecotoxicology, Environmental Fate, Plant Metabolism, Animal Metabolism, Physical Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Residue Chemistry, Regulatory Affairs, Risk Assessment and Project Management.

The agreement, signed May 2, is expected to be completed in 30 days.
