Chinese agrochemical company Jiangsu Good Harvest-Weien Agrochemical has recently been granted the full registration approvals for herbicide ethofumesate 96% technical and 20% emulsifiable concentrate formulation from the Chinese Ministry of Agriculture's Institute for the Control of Agrochemicals (ICAMA). The approvals will be valid for 5 years. Another agrochemical company, Yingde Greatchem was granted temporary approval in last December for 1 year for this product.
Ethofumesate, which belongs to benzofuranyl alkylsulfonate herbicides, can inhibit the cell division by a reduction of photosynthesis and respiration, to control broadleaf weeds and grass weeds. As the selective herbicide, ethofumesate is widely used on beans, beets (fodder, red and sugar), Swiss chard, pasture and turf.
Bayer Cropscience has registered the ethofumesate in Australia, Chile, European Union countries, Iran, Japan, Morocco, North America, Russia, Switzerland, Turkey and Ukraine.
