The National Farmers Union (NFU) based in UK has written to Defra in support of a 120-day emergency approval which would put Actellic Smoke Generators back on the market ready for this harvest.

The products were removed from sale at the end of the March, leaving many members without a viable alternative to effectively control grain store pests that hide in structural cracks/crevasses.

NFU Deputy President Meurig Raymond wrote to Rob Mason, at the Chemicals Regulation Directorate.

The letter states that failure to approve a 120-day Actellic Smoke Generators approval will result in 'economic losses for our [NFU] members and will compromise the availability of quality grains for the food industry.'
