Syngenta announced registration of Palisade® 2EC plant growth regulator (PGR) for use on cereal crops. Palisade 2EC is shown to increase stem thickness and diameter and reduce crop height to help decrease lodging. State registrations may still be pending. Please check with your state regulatory agency to determine registration status.
"Lodging can reduce yield up to 40 percent,” said Bernd Druebbisch, fungicide asset lead, Syngenta. “Lodging management via the use of a PGR like Palisade 2EC helps protect cereal growers’ valuable crop investments in seed, fertilizer and other inputs to maximize yield and profit potential.”
Palisade 2EC has the potential to significantly increase potential in lodging-prone areas. Syngenta trial results have shown an average yield increase of 5-6 bu/A in high lodging situations.
"Trinexapac-ethyl, the active ingredient in Palisade 2EC, shortens internodes to reduce crop height and lower the center of gravity,” explained Allison Tally, fungicide technical asset lead, Syngenta. “This improves standability of your cereal crop and mitigates risk from strong winds. Additionally, Palisade 2EC offers an early and wide application window to help growers optimize spray programs for cost efficiency and flexibility under adverse weather conditions.”
Palisade 2EC offers tank-mix flexibility with most fertilizers, herbicides, insecticides and fungicides and helps maximize yield potential in lodging-prone areas where growers would like to use higher levels of nitrogen fertilization.
"Flat crops mean higher costs and lower premiums,” Druebbisch said. “With Palisade 2EC, wheat and barley growers can significantly reduce lodging to protect the value and marketability of their cereal crops.”
