Arysta LifeScience announced that the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has approved a label expansion for EVITO® (fluoxastrobin) fungicide for in-furrow application in potato production. EVITO has been a popular next-generation, low-use-rate strobilurin fungicide for U.S. growers of fruiting vegetables, peanuts, corn and soybeans since its introduction.

"In potatoes, EVITO 480 SC can help maintain plant health and preserve yields,” said Brent Byers, product manager, fungicides and insecticides, Arysta LifeScience. "When applied in-furrow at planting, EVITO effectively controls Rhizoctonia solani, a fungus that causes black scurf. Black scurf can cause economically significant damage in cool, wet soils.”

Rhizoctonia disease causes reduced plant stands, stunted plants, reduced tuber number and size, and misshapen tubers.

"Potato growers in northern areas are at the highest risk of suffering crop losses due to black scurf, but even in temperate areas, losses can occur when the weather is cold and wet in the weeks following planting,” explained Byers. “EVITO is a hedge against loss.”
