The UK Chemicals Regulation Directorate (CRD) been informed by a manufacturer of the ethoxylated tallow amine products (TAM-EO) within the range of 10 to 20 EO with CAS number 61791-26-2 that, due to a new acute inhalation study, the classification for these products has changed to include the risk phrase R23 ‘Toxic by inhalation’. The products affected are:
AGNIQUE GPC
AGNIQUE TAM 15
DAS 545 SURFACTANT
PRODUCTO K-20
These products are commonly used as co-formulants in products that contain glyphosate but are also used in some adjuvant products.
The manufacturer has informed CRD that this information has been relayed to its customers.
CRD noted that the company which product contains any of the above tallow amine products should take into consideration this change and how it affects the overall classification of related product. Companies should amend product label and Material Safety Data Sheet to reflect the new classification where necessary and at the earliest opportunity.
