BASF plans to launch its new Priaxor fungicide for soybeans, cereals and other row crops in second quarter 2012, pending EPA registration, according to Nick Fassler, technical market manager for fungicides at BASF. Priaxor will be powered by the new active ingredient, Xemium, which provides continuous protection and long-lasting control of a broad range of common diseases. Priaxor combines the proven disease control and plant health benefits of Headline fungicide with the continuous protection and consistent performance of Xemium to maximize yield potential and crop quality.
DuPont anticipates launching its new Aproach fungicide in 2012, pending EPA registration. Aproach is a broad-spectrum fungicide that offers preventative and curative disease control to help growers improve crop productivity and quality. It’s expected to initially be labeled for corn, soybeans, cereals, dry beans, fry peas and canola.
FMC recently acquired Roval fungicide and Sportak fungicide from Bayer CropSci¬ence. Roval stops diseases at several phases of development, including spore germination, mycclia growth and spore production. This multi-prong attack provides consistent, reliable disease prevention while reducing the risk of resistance development in future growing seasons. Sportak is a highly effectively resistant management tool. Both fungicides are well-established products labeled for soybeans, cereals, canola as well as other crops.
Later this year, MANA Crop Protection will introduce Bumper VC fungicide which is a propiconazole formulation, providing broadspectrum and highly effective disease control on Midwest and North Central row crops. Bumper VC controls a variety of diseases common across corn and soybean regions. The product also features environmental quality benefits and safe handling with a Caution signal work for a less restrictive PPE requirement. Bumper VC is a good resistance management tool for IPM in tank-mixes or in rotation with other fungicides. It also offers preventative and curative control properties. The new formulation of Bumper VC also comes bearing a reduced use rate.
Syngenta will add a cereal label, new for 2012, for its Quilt Xcel fungicide which will provide longer-lasting, broadspectrum control of yielding-robbing diseases in wheat, barley and triticale.
