Bayer CropScience is now offering growers a residual herbicide option with Alion™ (active ingredient: indaziflam). The new herbicide provides long-term residual control of annual grassy and broadleaf weeds, including glyphosate, triazine and ALS-resistant weeds, on pome fruit, stone fruit and tree nuts.

"Alion features a completely new mode of action that provides longer-lasting weed control compared to competitive products,” says David Kikkert, Portfolio Manager, Horticulture, Bayer CropScience. “By choosing Alion, growers will benefit from its outstanding performance, and weed control they can depend on for the entire season.”

"Alion herbicide is what growers have been waiting for; it offers an extremely low use rate, excellent environmental safety, and it stays where you put it,” says Allan Kaastra, Field Development Representative, Eastern Canada, Bayer CropScience. “Alion enables growers to more effectively rotate modes of action and preserve the utility of weed management technologies. Alion can be applied to established orchards of at least three full growing seasons, and if weeds are present at the time of application, growers can simply tank-mix Alion with a contact herbicide like Ignite®."

Alion is available in a 1L jug from Bayer CropScience horticulture retails in orchard growing regions of Canada.
