Gujarat State Fertilizers Company will set up a bio fertilizer complex at Vadodara with an investment of Rs 50 crore, a company official said. The complex will produce water soluble fertilizer, plant growth promoters and liquid bio fertilizers. The products are water soluble and will be used in drip irrigation that is fast catching up in the state. The construction of the plant of the BSE-NSE listed company began in January.
The proposed plant will manufacture liquid bio fertilizers for which it had entered into a memorandum of understanding for transfer of technology with Anand Agriculture University The products based on its research and development process are used in drip and sprinkler irrigation systems and also as spray to augment yield and improve quality of variety of crops like fruits, vegetables, oil seeds, pulses, cereals, cotton, tobacco sugarcane and tea. The commercial plant to be set-up at the complex will cater to the increasing market for fertilizers that are being used in drip and sprinkler irrigation systems.
