China will increase investment in agricultural technology to ensure that it can meet food supply, the State Council said in its first policy document of the year.
The ninth No. 1 Central Document, issued by the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and the State Council on Tuesday, stressed the importance of maintaining the stable growth of the agriculture industry and using technology to secure effective supply of farm produce, state media reported.
According to the document, the central government will invest more in agricultural technology and play a guiding role in agricultural technology investment.
The document also encouraged developing advanced agricultural technology research, continuing reform in agricultural technology institutes and building technology systems for modern agriculture.
Rural technology innovation and education were also included in the document.
