Syngenta Canada Inc. has received registration for Sierra® 2.0, a post-emergent liquid herbicide for use on spring wheat (hard red spring, Canada Prairie spring, soft white spring and extra strong (utility) spring) as well as durum wheat.
"Sierra 2.0 wheat herbicide is a valuable addition to the broad portfolio of Syngenta cereal solutions,” stated Jon Habok, Asset Lead, Cereal Herbicides for Syngenta Canada. "This new Group 2 product builds off the power of Sierra herbicide while providing growers with the added benefits of a liquid formulation and built-in safener, for an easier-to-use product.”
Sierra 2.0 contains the active ingredient flucarbazone, which works to control grass weeds such as wild oats and green foxtail, as well as broadleaf weeds including redroot pigweed, wild mustard, stinkweed, volunteer canola, green smartweed and shepherd’s purse. This herbicide also controls wild oat biotypes that have developed resistance to ACCase (Group 1) and triallate (Group 8) herbicides. Additionally, Sierra 2.0 controls green foxtail biotypes resistant to ACCase (Group 1) and dinitroaniline (Group 3) herbicides.
Sierra 2.0 also offers exceptional tank-mix flexibility, with a long list of proven tank-mix partners for broader spectrum activity. Applied post-emergence, Sierra 2.0 herbicide must be tank-mixed with a labeled surfactant.
