China manufactured 2,648.7 thousand tonnes of chemical pesticides (active ingredients) in year 2011, as per the statistics from China’s National Development and Reform Commission, with a increase of 21.53% to previous year. Herbicides accounted for 44.35% in volume, with a 12.65% growth to 1,174.7 thousand tonnes. Insecticides accounted for 26.77%, increased by 16.55%, and fungicides decreased by 0.19%.
Jiangsu province was still the biggest province to produce pesticides, which manufactured 758 thousand tonnes pesticides in 2011, accounted for 28.63% of total volume, with a 24.51% growth to previous year. Followed by Shandong, Zhejiang and Hubei provinces, the output separately accounted for 20.12%, 9.15% and 8.02%.
