A long-term agreement has been reached between Bayer CropScience LP and Engage Agro USA to market Spin-Aid (active ingredient: phenmedipham), an herbicide for post-emergent control of broadleaf weeds in several vegetable crops.
The herbicide, which can be used for both processing and seed growth, can be applied to young processing spinach and red beets for control of key broadleaf weeds including wild mustard, jimsonweed, common lambsquarter, purslane, common ragweed, common chickweed, shepherdspurse, and groundcherry.
"Growers have long relied on Spin-Aid for post-emergent weed control in processing spinach and table beet production, and we are very pleased to be able to keep this product available to the industry,” says Steven Slaveck, western business manager for Engage Agro USA.
Spin-Aid will begin to be marketed and distributed February 2012. The first product will be available through local distribution networks. Spin-Aid is currently registered in 30 states.
