The Brazilian pesticide container disposal organization, the inpEV, reports that the collection volume rose by 10% over the same period in 2010 to 29,790 tons by the end of October this year.
According to the data of inpEV, the volumes of recycled empty pesticide containers in 13 States, which together account for 73% of the total volume, have increased compared to 2010. The major highlights were Bahia, Goias, Mato Grosso, Minas Gerais, Rio Grande do Sul and São Paulo. Mato Grosso recorded the largest amount growth of 27% to 7,691 tons, and then comes São Paulo with 3,323 tons collected in 2011 and a 6% increase in volume.
The inpEV noted that recycling volume was increasing persistently due to the increase in the number of packages sold, installation of new jobs and advancing environmental awareness of the producer.
