The fungicide, prochloraz has gained EU re-registration from the European Commission. It will be approved to be added into Annex Part B list according to (EC) Regulation No 1107/2009on January 1st 2012. The new approval required that in the case of outdoor uses, rates shall not exceed 450 g/ha per application.
EU Member States shall in accordance with Regulation (EC) No 1107/2009, where necessary, amend or withdraw existing authorisations for plant protection products containing prochloraz by 30 June 2012. They will re-register exsiting products containing prochloraz by December 31st 2015 to comply with more approval conditions, which require paying particular attention to the protection of operators and workers, the risk to aquatic organisms and long-term risk to mammals. The applicants should submit confirmatory information by December 31st 2013 as regards: comparison and verification of the test material used in the mammalian toxicity and ecotoxicity dossiers against the specification of the technical material; the environmental risk assessment for the metal complexes of prochloraz. The potential endocrine disrupting properties of prochloraz on birds will be required within two years after the adoption of the pertinent OECD test guidelines on endocrine disruption.
