Boosting co-operation between Tunisia and the European Union (EU) in the agricultural field was the focus of talks held on Saturday between Agriculture and Environment Minister Mohamed Mokhtar Jellali and European Commissioner for Internal Market, Services and Financial Regulation Michel Barnier.
This co-operation will mainly touch on the interior regions which conceal a great agricultural potential and is in need of intensifying investment, notably in infrastructure, and of substantial funding to regularise land plots in litigation.
Mr. Barnier asserted EU's readiness to support post-Revolution Tunisia in the fields of water, improvement of farming produce quality and farmers' guidance.
He stressed the need for a better co-ordination between Tunisia and Europe to develop the agricultural sector and guarantee the two sides' interests.
