EPA’s Office of Pesticide Programs has posted on its website a guidance document for waiving or bridging mammalian acute toxicity data for testing pesticide technical active ingredients and pesticide end-use formulations. The Guidance for Waiving or Bridging of Mammalian Acute Toxicity Tests for Pesticides and Pesticide Products integrates several existing EPA documents into one reference resource. The agency believes this streamlining of information will reduce confusion for registrants seeking accurate and up-to-date guidance.
The guidance applies to acute toxicity waiver requests for the conduct of the mammalian (Series 870) acute oral, acute dermal, acute inhalation, primary eye irritation, primary dermal irritation and dermal sensitization studies. It also includes information on waivers for granular pesticides.
