One of the global leaders in crop protection, ADAMA, launched the herbicide Matero, specifically developed for cotton crops.

The presentation took place during Farm Show 2025, held in the Brazilian state of Mato Grosso – one of the country's central fiber-producing agricultural regions.

Matero is a pre-emergent herbicide formulated as an Oil Dispersion (OD) from the combination of two active ingredients: Diuron and Trifluralin. According to the manufacturer, the new product offers an "effective solution for weed management."

"With the exclusive T.O.V. formulation, the product maximizes the potential of the active ingredients, ensuring a more efficient and simplified application in the field. This technology provides producers with greater control over weeds, protecting the crop's productive potential," states ADAMA. According to the multinational, T.O.V. is an exclusive formulation technology from ADAMA, which stands for Technology, Simplified Operation, and Value to the Farmer.

ADAMA points out that the new Matero herbicide delivers resistance management, a broad spectrum of pest control, and high selectivity for cotton plants. Among the weeds controlled by the new product are: Bidens pilosa, Cenchrus echinatus, Commelina benghalensis, Digitaria insularis, Eleusine indica, and Ipomoea aristolochiaefolia.

With this launch, ADAMA told AgroPages that it aims to "strengthen its closeness to producers and present a complete portfolio of differentiated formulation solutions for efficient crop management." "We are always listening to the daily challenges faced by farmers to deliver the best solutions," said João Guimarães, ADAMA's Regional Marketing Manager.

"With a favorable agricultural scenario and a soybean harvest that exceeded the historical average productivity, farmers' challenges continue to demand innovation and specialized technical support. Among the main concerns are the control of resistant weeds, high caterpillar pressure in corn and cotton crops, and the fight against diseases such as target spot and anomalies in soybeans. Attentive to these demands, ADAMA will bring technologies to events that enhance efficiency in the field, ensuring more safety and profitability for producers," the company stated.

During the event, ADAMA also highlighted its well-known herbicides, Araddo, Cheval, and Apresa, at its booth. "We had specialists on-site to help producers make the best decisions for their crops," highlighted the Regional Marketing Manager of ADAMA.
