Lier Chemical plans to acquire controlling stake in Shandong Huimeng, expanding pyridine industry chain

On March 23, 2025, Lier Chemical Co., Ltd. (referred to as "Lier Chemical"), a leading Chinese producer of glufosinate, announced its intention to acquire a controlling stake in Shandong Huimeng Biotechnology Co., Ltd. (referred to as "Shandong Huimeng"). The acquisition aims to expand the company's industry chain and enhance its competitiveness. Both parties have reached a preliminary agreement, but no formal agreement has been signed yet. The investment amount and equity ratio are still to be determined through further research and negotiation.

Lier Chemical will next conduct due diligence, audits, and assessments of Shandong Huimeng and negotiate the transaction plan with its major shareholders. Once the cooperation details are clarified, the company will follow its internal decision-making and approval procedures and disclose information in a timely manner.

Founded in 2013 and located in the Chemical Industry Park of Chengwu County, Heze City, Shandong Province, Shandong Huimeng has a registered capital of 105.1967 million yuan and three wholly-owned subsidiaries. The company has long focused on the research and development and production of pyridine fluorinated derivatives. It has formed a product system centered on pyridine chlorofluorinated derivatives, mainly around the synthesis routes of products such as DCTF (2,3-dichloro-5-trifluoromethyl pyridine) and CTC, and has built six full industry chain development models.

Shandong Huimeng's six industry chains

Lier Chemical is one of the first companies in the world to fully master the industrialization key technology of cyano pyridine chlorination and has successively developed a series of chloropyridine herbicide products such as clopyralid, picloram, fluroxypyr, and triclopyr-butotyl. The company is also the first in China to master the large-scale synthesis technology of glufosinate and L-glufosinate, with globally leading technology.

If the acquisition is successful, Lier Chemical's pyridine industry chain and glufosinate/L-glufosinate industry chain will be further consolidated. Its SDHI fungicide industry chain will also be effectively supplemented, significantly enhancing its overall competitiveness.
