The multinational FMC unveiled its new herbicide, Giant, during Expodireto Cotrijal 2025, an event with special coverage by AgroPages. One of the company's main highlights at this year's fair, Giant (Bixlozone) is "specially formulated for weed control in wheat and irrigated rice crops," according to FMC.
Developed for pre-emergence control of ryegrass in wheat and barnyard grass (Echinochloa spp.) and smallflower umbrella sedge (Cyperus iria) in rice, Giant features the exclusive Isoflex™ Active technology, described by the multinational as "distinct and innovative."
"Its application offers superior results, greater operational simplification, and prolonged control, representing a complete solution for managing these crops," FMC points out. According to the manufacturer, the product is selective to the crop, contributing to higher productivity, and offers prolonged residual control, reducing the need for post-emergence applications.
At this edition of Expodireto, the company also showcased "advanced technologies capable of supporting soybean, corn, wheat, rice, and other crop producers in the region, ensuring good productivity even in the face of extreme weather conditions and increased pressure from pests, diseases, and weeds."
Another product highlighted at this year's Expodireto was Stone, an ideal herbicide for pre-emergence weed control. According to the manufacturer, the product has "high selectivity and efficacy in soybean cultivation, efficiently combating resistant and hard-to-control weeds such as pigweed and horseweed."
"At FMC, we develop innovative solutions based on scientific research and cutting-edge technology to support producers in both adverse weather conditions and efficient, sustainable management. The product portfolio we are presenting at Expodireto Cotrijal reflects our commitment to providing more efficiency and sustainability in agricultural operations, always respecting the particularities of each region and crop," says Vinicius Batista, Marketing Director of FMC in Brazil.
Another highlight from the company at the event was Onsuva, a fungicide with high selectivity and efficacy in controlling major crop diseases such as Asian rust and target spot. "Its balanced formulation, which includes a novel carboxamide and a selective triazole, contributes to sustainable disease management and increases control efficiency, as well as aiding in the rotation of active ingredients," FMC notes.
Also featured was Premio Star, an innovative insecticide for managing caterpillars, stink bugs, and other secondary pests in soybeans. "Its formula provides simultaneous control of the main crop pests, ensuring higher productivity in the fields," the manufacturer emphasizes.
FMC also brought Provilar to the event, a microbiological fungicide effective in controlling target spot and white mold in soybean, cotton, and bean crops. With a triple mode of action (antibiosis, competition, and systemic resistance induction), the biosolution "contributes to the sustainability of disease management, providing prolonged protection," says FMC.
