Fortgreen has unveiled a new technology for spray mixtures in its Premium Nutrition and Physiology line. The launch of GreenUP, exclusively revealed to AgroPages, offers "security by ensuring stability in complex tank mixtures, as well as promoting greater adhesion and persistence of droplets on leaves, reducing losses and increasing absorption efficiency."
Advancements in agricultural research have shown significant changes in the nutrient absorption patterns of plants. As crops develop and adapt to different soil, climate, and management conditions, the balance of nutritional extraction also shifts. This scenario challenges agriculture to revisit traditional practices and seek solutions more aligned with the current nutritional needs of plants, ensuring maximum productive efficiency.
Producers' decisions have also evolved over time. As explained by Fortgreen's Product Manager, João Vidotto, a challenging scenario has emerged in the field in recent years: the decision to use more complex spray mixtures.
"Farmers are opting for a greater variety of products in the same mixture, along with a strategic reduction in the application rate, which is the volume of water used to dilute the components in the tank. Therefore, by adding more products and reducing the solvent, the chance of some instability or chemical incompatibility is increased," he summarizes.
This means that the efficiency of the products used in these mixtures also needs to evolve. "With the need to update nutritional balances, GreenUP arrives with a modern nutrient balance in line with the demands of current crops," Vidotto notes.
The formulation technology of GreenUP allows for greater safety in the product's applicability in association with others commonly used in the field. "It is the result of tireless studies in the search for additives and formulations that enable this performance. The blend of natural amino acids helps the product achieve better stability and broad compatibility in general mixtures," highlights Fortgreen's Product Manager.
Neutrality is another differentiator that makes a difference in the field. The product, presented in liquid form, provides ease in handling and preparing the spray solution. "The pH of the mixture is an important index of the chemical stability of the solution. When close to extremes—very acidic or very basic—it can present problems of molecular stability loss, leading to the degradation of active ingredients and consequent reduction in their efficiency. So, when working with a pH close to neutrality, there is a safer scenario for mixtures and, consequently, greater safety for the producer," he states.
The presence of surfactant and humectant additives also improves the contact angle of the droplet with the leaf, delaying evaporation time and providing more time for the leaf to absorb the solubilized nutrient. With this, Vidotto points to an increase in the agronomic efficiency of foliar spraying, ensuring that the applied nutrients are indeed absorbed by the plant.
Versatility and efficiency to enhance results – Recommended primarily for the cultivation of grasses, GreenUP stands out in crops such as corn, rice, sugarcane, sorghum, wheat, barley, and pastures and is also indicated for the drone spraying market (coffee and fruit trees in general).
These recommendations, like Fortgreen's entire portfolio, are based on science and results, as explained by the Product Manager: "Scientific studies show Molybdenum (Mo) and Nickel (Ni) as important elements for tissue formation (leaves and fruits) by optimizing the Nitrogen (N) assimilation process. Therefore, GreenUP combines these elements with other nutrients (N, S, Mg, B, Mn, and Zn), along with the presence of natural amino acids, culminating in high compatibility in mixtures and absorption efficiency, even at low application rates," concludes Vidotto.
