Rivulis, an Israeli company specializing in drip irrigation systems, and Cocamar, one of the largest agricultural cooperatives in Brazil, have announced a strategic and exclusive partnership.
The agreement aims to provide cooperative members and customers with cutting-edge technology, improve water use efficiency, and promote increased crop productivity, especially in light of the adverse weather conditions faced by the sector in Brazil in recent harvests.
With this growing challenge of water scarcity, lack of rain, and the need to optimize the use of natural resources, Cocamar sought innovative solutions. ″Drip irrigation, one of the most efficient and sustainable methods, will be the main offering of this partnership. Rivulis, with its vast experience in the market, will provide modern and adaptable systems that will ensure greater precision in water distribution, reducing waste and increasing crop yields,″ explains Leandro Lance, commercial director of the Israeli company in Brazil.
The partnership represents a significant step in both parties' commitment to sustainability and innovation. "This also guarantees cooperative members more comprehensive assistance focused on irrigation, especially in challenging years in terms of climate, which impact water management," said Thassio Monteiro, an agricultural engineer, a doctor in irrigation, and a technical consultant at Cocamar.
The large-scale adoption of irrigation technologies is expected to benefit crops, the environment, and rural properties.
Irrigation Focus Regions
Cocamar's technical consultant explained that within the producing regions of Paraná, the Arenito Caiuá stands out among those that most need support with irrigation, an area with sandier soils located in the northwest of the state.
″To give you an idea, in the richest region of the state, production per hectare generates an average revenue of R$20,000, while in the areas that suffer most from water issues, annual revenue per hectare drops to R$1,500. In other words, it is 22 times lower than in the richest region,″ he explained. Hence, it is crucial to provide tools capable of helping farmers deal with this situation.
The cooperative’s target audience consists primarily of small and medium-sized producers, although it also serves large properties. The cooperative’s consultant emphasizes that Rivulis’ solutions perfectly fit this profile.
″The systems offered by the company are versatile and accessible, especially for smaller areas and regions with more irregular terrain. This makes technologies such as fixed drip irrigation, irrigation for fruit trees, and other systems that were previously inaccessible to many cooperative members feasible,″ he said. This inclusion is essential to democratize access to irrigation and promote sustainability in the field.
Cocamar has more than 16,600 members who receive support from 114 operational units distributed between Paraná, Mato Grosso do Sul, Mato Grosso, and Goiás, including 97 agricultural stores that offer technical, administrative, and commercial support.
