As of March 1st, Marc Bots will become the new Director Research & Breeding at Bejo. He succeeds Bert Schrijver, who will retire in May.
Bert Schrijver pioneered the development of research at Bejo and its integration into breeding. Starting as the first employee in this area of expertise in 1982, he has guided the company through its growth in various research positions, the last 13 years as Director Research & Breeding. He has also diligently applied his knowledge and skills in the sector in various governing bodies.
Marc Bots has gained broad international work experience in management positions in several vegetable breeding companies since completing his studies in biology and PhD in 2004. He is familiar with the complexity and dynamics of breeding and research.
Managing Director John-Pieter Schipper: ‘I am delighted to welcome Marc Bots to the Board of Directors. With his managerial experience, people-oriented approach and in-depth professional knowledge, I see in him a worthy successor to Bert Schrijver. We are strongly committed to developing robust and disease-resistant vegetable varieties, so that we can help vegetable growers around the world in making their cultivation practices more sustainable while also improving the reliability of their yields. Innovation in seed technology and seed health is also firmly embedded in our strategy. I am confident that with Marc in the team, we will be able to bring our growth and development ambitions to realisation."
