Pyroxasulfone registration in China extended to control of corn and soy annual weeds

ChinaOn November 26, 2024, pyroxasulfone 40% SC of Shanghai Qunli Chemical Co., Ltd, the only pyroxasulfone formulation product currently registered in China, was approved for extended application to control annual weeds in corn and soy fields.
This is the first registration of pyroxasulfone in China for use in corn and soy fields. Previously, the product was registered for control of annual weeds in winter wheat fields.
Pyroxasulfone is a novel isoxazole herbicide, which can specifically inhibit various VLCFA-enzyme catalyzed elongation steps, mainly through the absorption of weeds by plumule and radicle, which, after germination of weeds, block the growth of apical meristem and coleoptile, leading to the death of weeds.
Concerning pyroxasulfone TC, there are four registrants in China to date: Shanghai Qunli Chemical Co., Ltd (98%), Inner Mongolia Zhonggao Chemical Co., Ltd (97%), Shandong Rainbow (98%), and Anhui Jiuyi Agricultural Co., Ltd (98%).
