In recent years, the global trade landscape has been undergoing continuous reshaping. During his previous term, starting from 2018, President Trump of the United States implemented a series of trade protection measures against Chinese exports to the U.S., including the imposition of additional tariffs on a variety of Chinese imported products.
AgroPages, after organizing customs data from 2015 to 2024, analyzed the trends in U.S. pesticide imports globally, as well as the export dynamics of key trade partners China and India. The data indicates that Chinese pesticide exports to the U.S. reached a peak in 2019, but then experienced a sharp decline, maintaining a relatively low level since. In contrast, India's pesticide exports to the U.S. have seen significant growth in recent years.

Recently, in his policy announcements for his second term, President Trump declared that starting from the day of his inauguration on January 20, 2025, an additional 10% tariff will be imposed on Chinese goods, on top of the existing tariffs.
This decision is expected to further shape the trajectory of Sino-American trade relations and have a profound impact on the global agrochemical supply chain.
