Grupo Duwest acquires GRAMOXONE Business from Syngenta

Grupo Duwest, leader in development and distribution of agricultural inputs in the Mesoamerican region, announces the acquisition from Syngenta Crop Protection of the assets related to the non-selective herbicide Paraquat for Mexico, Guatemala, Belize, Honduras, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama, Dominican Republic, Colombia and Ecuador. 

The acquisition includes the trademarks Gramoxone^®, Gramoxone Super^®, Gramuron^®, Gramocil^®, Preglone^®, Cerillo^®, Full^®, and Doblete Super^®, as well their registrations and other related intellectual property. 

Raimundo Riojas, Duwest CEO, commented, ″Gramoxone^® is one of the best-known brands in the crop protection industry. This transaction will allow us to continue offering to farmers in the region a tool that has contributed to their productivity for decades. This acquisition is transformational in helping us achieve our growth objectives as well as strengthening our leadership position in the Mesoandean region. Duwest has grown recently through company acquisitions in the region - Cafesa (Costa Rica 2017), Drokasa (Peru 2019), Agrinter (El Salvador y Honduras 2021), Sifatec (México 2022), and Del Monte Agrosciences (Colombia, 2024). This regional acquisition is the first transaction that involves a Strategic Asset purchase from a multinational R&D company. 

Riojas added, ″Our commitment to the mesoandean farmers is to continue offering products and services suited to their local needs. The addition of Gramoxone^® to our existing portfolios in the different countries will help us in delivering on this promise.″

Amongst the sustainability related policies which will be implemented with Gramoxone^® is the Product Stewardship-PS program, which applies to all the company’s operations and considers the total life cycle of its products, from manufacture, distribution, safe use, and proper container disposal. 

According to Duwest’s CEO, the company is working to make all the Gramoxone^® family products available for the 2025 agricultural season.
