Health Canada's Pest Management Regulatory Agency (PMRA), under the authority of the Pest Control Products Act, is granting registration for the sale and use of Cyclaniliprole 50SL Insecticide containing the technical grade active ingredient cyclaniliprole to suppress or control various insect pests on outdoor and greenhouse grown ornamental plants and greenhouse grown peppers and tomatoes.
Cyclaniliprole is an insecticide currently used to suppress or control various insect pests (such as certain thrips, moths, beetles, and flies) on:
various field-grown vegetables (such as celery, leaf lettuce, broccoli, and sweet potatoes)
tree nuts (such as hazelnuts, walnuts, and chestnuts)
various fruit crops (such as apples, peaches, and some berries)
The pesticide product Cyclaniliprole 50SL Insecticide contains the active ingredient cyclaniliprole.
The Proposed Registration Decision PRD2023-11, Cyclaniliprole 50SL Insecticide, containing the detailed evaluation of the information submitted in support of this registration, underwent a 45 day consultation period ending on 27 January 2024. The evaluation found that, under the approved conditions of use, the health and environmental risks and the value of the pest control product is acceptable. Health Canada received written comments relating to the assessments during the public consultation period conducted in accordance with section 28 of the Pest Control Products Act.
