The Brazilian-origin multinational company Nitro presented two bioinsecticides during its participation in the 29th Brazilian Congress of Entomology (CBE 2024).

The company was present at the event that brought together researchers, students, and academics to discuss advances in entomology, focusing on pest control and sustainable management.

Bouveriz

BOUVERIZ-2.jpgThe first highlighted product was the biological insecticide Bouveriz, produced from the entomopathogenic fungus Beauveria bassiana (strain IBCB 66). With a wettable powder (WP) formulation, this bioinsecticide is applied through foliar spraying, directed jets, and ratoon cutting.

"Parasitism occurs by contact from the moment the Beauveria bassiana conidia, present in the product, adheres to the insect's cuticle and penetrates its interior through enzyme action or natural fissures. From there, the infection begins, and the fungus grows inside the host, leading to its death," the manufacturer explained.

According to Nitro, Bouveriz is a solution that presents a broad spectrum of action in a single product, which can be used to control pests in various crops. Additionally, it acts synergistically with other insecticides used in the system, representing an essential tool for integrated management.

"With one of the highest concentrations in the market, the product offers a superior quantity of active ingredient applied per hectare, with excellent dilution in spray and greater operational ease during application," pointed out the Brazilian multinational with almost 90 years of history.

Metarriz

METARRIZ-1.jpgThe second product presented by Nitro at CBE 2024 was the biological insecticide Metarriz, which was highlighted at the company's stand at the event. With the active ingredient being the fungus Metarhizium anisopliae (strain IBCB 425), this bioinsecticide has contact action, presenting a more significant residual effect against pests such as Deois flavopicta, Mahanarva fimbriolata, and Zulia entreriana.

"Metarriz is a bioinsecticide that combines efficiency and high persistence, extending pest control windows. It acts synergistically with other insecticides used in the system, representing an important tool for integrated management. With one of the highest concentrations in the market, the product offers a superior quantity of active ingredient applied per hectare, with excellent dilution in spray and greater operational ease during application," Nitro stated.

The company also told AgroPages that it is investing in its new bacteria production unit for inputs in the city of Várzea Paulista in the Brazilian state of São Paulo. According to Nitro, the new factory "will further strengthen its production capacity and quality of its biological solutions."

Recently, the Brazilian multinational launched Theros (Telenomus podisi), a macrobiological insecticide capable of preventive control of the stink bug complex, controlling the pest still in the egg stage and minimizing damage to crops. "Nitro has a solid commitment to the sustainable development of agriculture, reflected in our line of research development for new products that we will launch in the coming years," Lana Gaias, Technical Market Manager – Biologicals, said in conclusion.
