The new product is an insecticide called Plenexos, which is the German-origin company's first formulation using the ketoenol chemical group.

According to the manufacturer, the launch is scheduled for the 2025-2026 crop season and has "great success potential." Bayer highlighted that Plenexos will offer both foliar and soil applications, suitable for use in crops such as soybeans, cotton, fruits, and vegetables.

Daniela Okuma, Strategic Marketing Manager at Bayer Latam, stated that "this solution aims to manage sap-sucking insects in more than seven crops, including beans, citrus, melon, tomato, and potato."

"It is a platform with a Bayer-exclusive molecule, a green product as it is highly selective and does not affect beneficial insects like pollinators. The solution controls all pest stages and has an excellent residual effect," she explained.

The executive emphasized that when it was combined with other active ingredients, Plenexos aimed to bring the "best solution for Brazilian and global agriculture." However, she explained that the product was still in the protocol conduction phase with the scientific and research chain.

According to Bayer, the goal is to be "always attentive to bringing increasingly specialized and complementary responses to field needs."

"With the growing number of solutions, Bayer consolidates its position in the insecticide segment, seeking to serve farmers with excellence in products and services. Against sap-sucking insects such as stink bugs, leafhoppers, cotton boll weevils, coffee berry borers, and sphenophorus, the Curbix insecticide, which quickly combats infestations and protects crops for longer, is aimed at the sugarcane, cotton, soybean, corn, and coffee markets. Its mode of action is the most effective against these pests, with a shock effect and long control period," Bayer stated.

Cecilia Melo, Strategic Marketing Director at Bayer Latam, affirmed that "Curbix provides much superior efficacy compared to the main market competitors, according to protocols conducted by recognized entomologists. In its first years of launch, it has already consolidated as the best product for controlling stink bugs in soybean crops. Soon, the family will gain a new member, Curbix Max, which offers a broad spectrum of control, adding whiteflies, one of the pests that most concern farmers in the Cerrado region."

The 29th Brazilian Congress of Entomology occurred at the end of September in the Brazilian state of Minas Gerais. With the theme "Sustainability and Biodiversity of Insects," the event brought together important discussion forums on Entomology throughout Latin America.
