Prez.jpgThe multinational UPL has exclusively announced to AgroPages the launch of the Prez insecticide, formulated with a combination of the active ingredients Acetamiprid + Bifenthrin.

According to the manufacturer, the product has a "broad spectrum of action and offers high efficacy against the spittlebug Deois flavopicta, a pest that harms pastures across Brazil."

UPL emphasized combining the two active ingredients, formulated in water-dispersible granules, provided the "best shock effect against target pests, immediately paralyzing their activity."

″This feature is essential, as the sucking insect causes damage to plants at various stages of development (from nymph to adult stage),″ the India-based company added.

In addition to pastures, Prez has also been registered for use in sugarcane cultivation against Mahanarva fimbriolata and Sphenophorus levis. UPL’s new insecticide is recommended for use against Glycaspis brimblecombei and Thaumascotocoris peregrinus for eucalyptus.

Rogério Castro, CEO of UPL Brazil, stated, ″This new product reaffirms UPL’s commitment to providing modern and effective solutions to address a recurring issue in livestock farming.″

″As an innovation-driven company, we are helping to strengthen nutritional sources for livestock, which supports meat production for the population,″ he added.

Leandro Valerim.jpegLeandro Valerim, UPL’s insecticide manager, pointed out that the spittlebug is a "major challenge for livestock farmers, as it not only reduces pasture volume but also – as indicated by the Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation (Embrapa) – lowers protein and mineral levels, making the pasture less palatable to animals.″

UPL recommended that Prez be integrated with bio solutions, which boosts sustainable production and maximizes the generation of healthy food. This would increase cattle weight gain and yield more meat per carcass.

UPL suggested its bioinsecticide Zebu, registered for use against spittlebugs Mahanarva fimbriolata, Zulia entreriana, and Deois flavopicta for this management approach.

In addition to this biological insecticide, the company suggested combining it with the biostimulant Foltron Plus, which helps mitigate plant stress. Both products are part of the Natural Plant Protection (NPP) portfolio, the company’s business unit focused on biological solutions.
