Agrobiomics appoints seasoned industry executive, Ananda Scherner, as new CEO

Copenhagen, Denmark, Sept. 16, 2024 /AgroPages/ -- Agrobiomics, a Danish Ag-tech company developing sustainable biological solutions for agriculture, announces the appointment of Ananda Scherner as new CEO to lead the efforts of making plants climate resilient.


With a mission of supporting sustainable agriculture to secure global food supply, Agrobiomics has developed a biological solution to enhance plant resilience to abiotic stress such as drought and salinity. Following extensive lab and green house validation, Agrobiomics is currently conducting field trials spanning three continents.


As CEO, Ananda Scherner will advance Agrobiomics by expanding the field validation program, scaling production, securing regulatory approval, and strengthening commercial efforts. Ananda, an Agronomist by education with a PhD in Plant Sciences, brings to the role extensive experience in the Crop Protection Industry, where she has served in various roles working with innovative biological products in leading agricultural and small Ag-tech companies., Most recently, Ananda has served as Head of Global Regulatory for Plant Health at FMC Corporation. In addition to her native country, Brazil, Ananda has lived in Denmark where she will be based in this role. Ananda’s background in Agronomy and in biologicals will be key to guide Agrobiomics into the future.


Asked about why she decided to join the company, Ananda says: ″Agrobiomics is driving agricultural transformation, helping farmers become more productive and sustainable. I am passionate about bringing new solutions to growers and am excited to build on the team’s momentum. I believe that we have an incredible opportunity to accelerate Agrobiomics growth and value creation.″

Recent development 


Agrobiomics patented technology has demonstrated a noteworthy ability to boost yields under drought and salinity stress with 10-15% across a variety of crops, including broad-acre, fruit, and vegetables. Most recently, field trials for soy in Brazil have shown impressive results with substantial yield increases at unprecedented low dose rates. Agrobiomics technology can be easily integrated into existing agricultural practices, offering farmers a seamless 'plug-and-play' solution. This innovation is expected to create a market opportunity exceeding $2 billion.
