Stoller Argentina launches BlueN, a biofertilizer composed of bacteria

Stoller Argentina announced the launch of BlueN, a biological fertilizer composed of the nitrogen-fixing bacterium Methylobacterium symbioticum SB23. 

According to the manufacturer, this is an "innovative" technology due to its foliar application, which is recommended for use in the early stages and is suitable for organic farming systems. Available as a stable wettable powder, BlueN can be applied in tank mixtures with most foliar pesticides, offering an alternative to the frequent use of traditional nitrogen sources.

Santiago Casas, Market Development Coordinator at Stoller, who has extensive experience in the chemical fertilizers sector, told AgroPages that he is "surprised by the results" offered by the new BlueN technology.

Agronomist Rafael Olivella, Product Manager at Stoller Argentina, stated that the product "has enormous power to colonize the plant and fix atmospheric nitrogen, generating efficiency in fertilization costs." 

According to Olivella, when applied at a dose of 333 g/hectare, this product can provide the crop with an average of 30 additional kilograms of nitrogen per hectare throughout its production cycle.

Stoller has been working in Argentina on the "Soja Fuerte" program, which offers the application of three products at different stages of the crop season. "We start with seed treatment using Stimulate (Cytokinin + Gibberellic Acid + Indole-3-butyric Acid) in the first stage of the process, where the crop begins to take shape," the manager stated.

Subsequently, during the V2-V6 stage, BioForge Advance (nitrogen, potassium, cobalt, and molybdenum) is integrated, and it helps to manage abiotic stress throughout the crop's cycle. Finally, Sett (calcium + boron), a "powerful" flower and pod fixer, is applied in the last stage of the program.

"The campaign shifts to focus on profitability through agronomic efficiency, maximizing the use of technologies like Stoller's Soja Fuerte program and sustainable products for corn and peanuts, allowing for high yields in an environmentally friendly manner," Olivella highlighted.

"It is essential to think about these innovative technologies because they allow us to be more efficient in resource use, which increases the final profitability in each field," he said in conclusion.
