Lance Beem of Beem Agro-Sciences Corp would like to announce the addition of Dr. Ron Salzman to the team. Lance has been working in applied plant research for 5 decades, consulting with major agrochemical companies worldwide as well as small ag companies with short product lists that need help in understanding and positioning their unique chemistry. Beem focuses on new plant extracts, biologicals from forests, deserts, oceans and soils.
Dr. Salzman is now Chief Science Officer at Plantomics Division, a division of Beem Agro-Sciences Corporation. Dr. Salzman received his PhD from Purdue University, and has been working in plant gene expression, plant physiology, and plant response to the environment for over 3 decades. He has been a colleague of Beem for over 20 years and is a brilliant plant scientist with a core knowledge of plant gene expression and gene function, as well as a wide knowledge of crop production all over the world.
In his new position with Plantomics, he focuses on translational biology; integrating information from plant transcriptomics with data from field, greenhouse and growth chamber experiments to understand plant responses and modes of action of plant improvement treatments. By this approach Beem has been able to separate effects from treatments with a host of fertilizers, pesticides, plant growth regulators, and the broad group of plant extracts, microbes and other unique approaches to plant improvement in the Ag Industry.
Dr. Salzman’s capabilities include quantifying expression patterns of 33,000+ genes in plants via RNAseq and classifying these responses according to biological function, yielding information directly useful to understanding crop growth, stress resistance, yield, and many other key attributes. He also is able to conduct a wide range of experiments downstream of gene expression, to validate and detail the responses. This approach of finding the most effective chemistries and compounds affecting cell division, sugar transporters, plant hormone regulation, photosynthesis, anti-oxidants, and a wide array of other functions is not only science, but an art form. Beem welcomes Dr. Salzman to the team, and looks forward to meeting like-minded individuals and companies interested in finding out more about how Beem can help you advance your understanding of your plant improvement products, synthetic or natural. Beem can help.
