In August 2024, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of the People's Republic of China (MARA) publicized the latest pesticide registration products, and Qingdao Jiner's 46.5% penoxsulam-isoproturon SC, an essential product for the control of resistant weeds in wheat fields, was approved and publicized. 


The approval of this product marks that penoxsulam, a classic herbicide in rice fields, has started to play an important role in wheat field weed control, creating a new era of wheat field weed control!


Qingdao Jiner opens the solution of wheat weeds with penoxsulam as the core


Currently, weed resistance in Chinese wheat fields is becoming more and more serious, especially in the Yangtze River and Huaihe River Basin, grass weeds such as Beckmannia syzigachne, Alopecurus aequalis Sobol, Alopecurus japonicus Steud, Lolium multiflorum Lamk, and broadleaf weeds such as Veronica polita, cleavers, and Stellaria media, etc. Resistance is significantly increased, coupled with the occurrence of a variety of weed mixtures, the traditional herbicides are increasingly impotent, and the farmers urgently need new and effective solutions to cope with the damage caused by the weeds.


Qingdao Jiner has pioneered the expansion of rice field herbicide penoxsulam to wheat field weed control in response to weed resistance and mixed weeds. Formulated with isoproturon and adding Jiner's original safety agent, the product is more effective in preventing weeds in wheat fields and highly safe for wheat. The company's scientific research team spent five years developing a pioneering product of 46.5% penoxsulam-isoproturon SC. This product is the first and the only one registered in China and has applied for patent protection.

Qingdao Jiner 46.5% penoxsulam-isoproturon SC will be introduced to the market under ″Jiner Maihua″ trade name. Together with Qingdao Jiner's other unique product-30% flufenacet-diflufenican SC, the two products will be applied in two different ways from pre-seedling spray and stem leaf spray, forming an innovative solution to the management of mixed weeds - ″Jiner Maifengle″ and ″Jiner Maihuan″, which constitute Jiner's ″Wheat to the Future″ program. They form an important part of the ″Wheat to the Future″ program.


Good pre seedling spraying effect


Jiner Maifengle is a powerful combination of 46.5% penoxsulam-isoproturon SC and 30% flufenacet-diflufenican SC to form a highly effective and comprehensive weed management program. The excellence of this combination program is that it can comprehensively seal and effectively control most of the grass and broadleaf weeds commonly found in wheat fields, especially resistant weeds such as Beckmannia syzigachne, Alopecurus aequalis Sobol, Alopecurus japonicus Steud, Lolium multiflorum Lamk, Veronica polita, Cleavers, and Stellaria media, etc. which have appeared widely in wheat fields in recent years and have been causing great problems to farmers.


On November 13, 2023, the combination of ″Jiner Maifengle″ participated in the pre-seedling weed control trial against Lolium multiflorum Lamk organized by Suining County Plant Protection Station in Xuzhou City, Jiangsu Province. Subsequently, in the two surveys on December 6, 2023 and March 16, 2024, ″Jiner Maifengle″ continued to excel among all the programs participating in the trial with a 96.8% control effect on Lolium multiflorum Lamk and won the unanimous praise of many plant protection experts.

Better stem and leaf spray effect


In post-seedling weed control, 46.5% penoxsulam-isoproturon SC also performed well. In the provincial-level demonstration area for integrated management of annual weeds in rice and wheat fields in Xiaoxinxu Farm, Chahe Town, Hongze County, Huai'an City, Jiangsu Province, the staff conducted tests using different gradients of 46.5% penoxsulam-isoproturon SC, controlled with a variety of commonly used herbicides for wheat fields. The test results showed that 46.5% penoxsulam-isoproturon SC had a preventive effect of more than 97% against the most common weeds in wheat fields, such as Beckmannia syzigachne, Alopecurus aequalis Sobol and Alopecurus japonicus Steud, etc. Compared with the control product, it has a broader weed control spectrum, better preventive effect, and is safer for wheat.
