Syngenta presents MEGAFOL biostimulant in Argentina

Syngenta Biologicals, the bioinputs division of the Chinese multinational, introduced its new biostimulant, MEGAFOL, at the Aapresid Congress 2024, with the participation of AgroPages.

According to the manufacturer, this is the only biostimulant formulated from plant extracts, enabling plants to recover from climatic stress. Syngenta also emphasized that this new product  ″promotes plant growth during environmental stress″ and ″stimulates plant growth while enhancing the effectiveness of treatments.″

MEGAFOL, the multinational highlights, contained a blend of vitamins, amino acids, proteins, betaines, and growth factors. When applied regularly, the biostimulant promoted balanced vegetative development and productivity. Additionally, when used during periods of stress (such as frost, root asphyxia, weeding, hail), the synergistic action of betaine and amino acids allowed plants to ″overcome stress quickly and spectacularly, improving growth.″ Moreover, Syngenta’s technicians noted that MEGAFOL also acts as a ″carrier for products in foliar applications.″

″Syngenta Biologicals’ products and technologies complement conventional crop protection solutions and provide farmers with more flexibility to better respond to consumer demand for more sustainable agriculture,″ Syngenta said.

MEGAFOL was developed originally by Valagro, a bioinputs company acquired by Syngenta Crop Protection. The biostimulant was developed using Valagro's proprietary production process called GEAPOWER (GEA 931).

Digital Agriculture and Sustainability

This year, Syngenta launched its new Sustainability Priorities globally, marking a ″new era in its path to being part of the solution to the challenges of feeding a growing population by regenerating soil and nature.″ The multinational aimed to ″help mitigate climate change and improve the quality of life for people, farmers, and their communities through this commitment.″

In line with this, Syngenta presented advancements in its digital agriculture tools through Cropwise, the company’s collaborative and open platform. One of the new features of Cropwise is the ability to obtain herbicide prescriptions based on soil characteristics such as texture, pH, and electrical conductivity.
