Global climate change is one of the greatest challenges of our time. According to statistics from the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization, from 2008 to 2018, the total loss in global agriculture amounted to $280 billion, with as much as 39% ($108.5 billion) concentrated in underdeveloped and low-income countries (FAO, 2019). As new risks emerge, intertwine and intensify, they have huge implications for agricultural development and food security, with negative impacts on nutrient availability, biodiversity and Labour productivity. Therefore, to ensure a more sustainable and resilient food system and to prepare for future crises, it is necessary to actively introduce more innovative technologies to establish a stronger and smarter modern agricultural system. In this new modern agricultural system, biostimulants, as a new type of agricultural biotechnology product, as a health product of crops, independent of biological pesticides and biofertilizers, are increasingly demonstrating their unique status and value in agricultural production.

1. What is Integrated Biostimulant Technology?
The term "biostimulant" originated in Europe and was first included under the new EU Fertilizing Products Regulation (EU) 2019/1009, which clearly states that biostimulants are not nutrient elements and do not have the function of killing harmful organisms. Biostimulants can improve crop nutrient utilization, enhance stress resistance, improve quality traits, and activate soil and rhizosphere environments, and are defined and classified according to their biological functions.
Various internal and external factors throughout the crop's growth cycle can affect the final yield and quality. For example, during the seed stage, issues such as temperature, humidity, and soil conditions may lead to a decrease in germination rate; while abiotic stresses such as high temperature drought, low temperature freezing, and salinization directly lead to crop yield reduction, and even no grain harvest. Biostimulant technology is one of the key technologies to address these physiological needs, but a single biostimulant cannot solve all problems throughout the growth cycle. Therefore, NEWSUN believes that the new Integrated Biostimulant Technology, which organically combines multiple key functional biostimulants, can play the greatest role during critical growth stages, allowing crops to grow healthily according to human "needs."

2. NEWSUN's Innovation and Development of New Integrated Biostimulant Technology and New Product Development
Based on a systematic study of plant physiological growth and nutritional needs, as well as research on the increasing response to environmental stresses, NEWSUN has established an integrated technology innovation and research and development platform for key functional biostimulants, which includes screening verification, mechanism research, and application development. The platform has successfully developed "Twelve Key Functional Biostimulant Technologies," including GFB-growth factors, STB-stress resistance factors, PSB-photosynthesis, CKB-cell proliferation, CSB-color enhancement and sugar increase, and other biostimulant technologies. These have been integrated to form five series of Integrated Biostimulant Technology products, including pollen polysaccharides, Astragalus polysaccharides, citrus oligosaccharides, theanine, and hydroxyproline, solving major agricultural problems affecting the yield and quality of agricultural products.

NEWSUN's Twelve Key Functional Biostimulants
Pollen polysaccharide is the first plant-derived biostimulant product to be industrialized by NEWSUN. It is mainly composed of pollen polysaccharides and is also rich in amino acids, vitamins, trace elements, and other active substances. It has a significant effect on promoting growth and enhancing stress resistance. By regulating the phenylpropane, flavonoid, and glutathione metabolism of plants, it realizes the growth and development of crops and enhances stress resistance. At the same time, by compounding and adding key functional biostimulants such as GFB-growth factors, STB-stress resistance factors, PSB-photosynthesis, and CKB-cell proliferation, NEWSUN has successfully developed Integrated Biostimulant Technology products such as Maodong® and Guolibei®, with pollen polysaccharides as the core. Among them, Maodong® is a broad-spectrum biostimulant product that can be widely used throughout the growth cycle of various crops, while Guolibei® is an underground tuber-specific biostimulant product, applied to crops such as potatoes, yams, ginger, Panax notoginseng, and Ophiopogon japonicus, achieving quality improvement and yield increase.

NEWSUN's Pollen Polysaccharide Technology has applied for more than ten domestic and foreign invention patents, with four Chinese patents authorized, and one each in the United States and Brazil. In 2024, 5% pollen polysaccharide was approved for biostimulant registration in Europe (Registration Certificate No. FB008497001), which is the first shot for the globalization of New Sunrise's biostimulant layout.

Integrated Biostimulant Technology can reduce the dependence of crops on chemical pesticides and fertilizers, ensure the safety of agricultural product quality, promote harmonious coexistence between humans and nature, and the sustainable development of agriculture. At the same time, by reducing the use of traditional agricultural chemical inputs at the production and planting ends, it helps to reduce carbon emissions in agriculture, achieve the "double carbon" goal, and high-quality agricultural green and low-carbon development.
