Syngenta has launched Pyrevert™ 5% EC, the highest concentration natural Pyrethrin on the market.
It offers very effective multi-pest biocontrol in a large number of crops, for which its use has been authorized, such as horticultural crops (cucumber, zucchini, melon, tomato, pepper, eggplant, leafy vegetables, or cabbage), but also in citrus fruits, fruit trees, grapevines, strawberries, potatoes, avocados, persimmons and other crops.
This is the natural pyrethrin with the highest concentration on the market, backed by Syngenta’s knowledge, which is firmly committed to expanding its biocontrol catalog to help farmers reduce waste in their crops and have tools for sustainable food production and profitability.
Pyrevert ™ 5% EC, sold in 1 and 5 liter containers, controls pests such as aphids, whiteflies, thrips, cluster moths, leafhoppers, potato beetles, and vinegar flies.
Natural pyrethrin is an insecticide extracted from the dried flowers of Chrysanthemum cinerariaefolium. Its mode of action is by contact. It is absorbed on the waxy surface of the leaves and is not translocated through the plant. It has a very rapid shock effect on larvae and adults. In addition, it presents a rapid degradation.
The product dissolves easily in water and is stable under adequate storage conditions (25ºC). The final solution of the broth must have a pH between 5 and 6 to improve efficacy and increase persistence.
The Pyrevert ™ 5% EC presentation included a critical section on the trials on different crops. Of these trials, it is worth highlighting those carried out on auxiliary fauna with already established populations. In all the trials carried out on crops such as tomato, pepper, cucurbits, etc., with Pyrevert ™ 5% EC it was shown that the product is harmless or very little harmful to the populations (reductions between 0 and 50), in line with the N classification (OILB Class). Treatment is recommended to protect bees when they are not present (dusk and dawn) and, if possible, close the hives for at least 24 hours.
Regarding efficacy trials, there have been multiple trials on crops such as pepper, tomato, nightshade, cucurbits, lettuce, etc., to control thrips, aphids, whiteflies, etc. In all of them, Pyrevert™ 5% EC presents efficiencies equal to or greater than synthetic pyrethroids, but being a product of natural origin, it shows a rapid shock effect in pest control and rapid degradation after application. The same results have been obtained in trials to control whiteflies and aphids in citrus or green mosquitoes and cluster moths in vineyards.
In summary, with Pyrevert™ 5% EC we are faced with a bioinsecticide with the highest concentration of natural Pyrethrin on the market, which allows up to three applications on most crops and produces a very high shock and repellency effect, with very effective control. It is a product with a very low risk of resistance development, compatible with auxiliary insects, and allows for reducing waste at harvest since the safety period is 1-2 days.
