Gowan Brasil launches biological fungicide Perimeter

Gowan Brasil unveiled Perimeter, its latest product, at Hortitec 2024 as the company's first biological fungicide, originating from the US-based Gowan Company. 

The manufacturer stated that the new product has been registered with Brazil's Ministry of Agriculture (MAPA) and classified by FRAC in group B01 with multiple modes of action.

Perimeter is an extract of Swinglea glutinosa, a plant native to the Philippines that was introduced to Central America. Belonging to the Rutaceae family, Swinglea glutinosa exhibited "efficacy against several important pathogens in horticultural crops in Brazil," Gowan Brasil noted. 

According to its label, Perimeter is recognized for controlling powdery mildew (Oidium sp.) in lettuce, melon, and grape crops. Additionally, the new biofungicide is recommended against Black Sigatoka (Mycosphaerella fijiensis) in banana crops – one of the greatest threats to this fruit worldwide.

Perimeter also controls early blight (Alternaria solani) in tomato crops and gray mold (Botrytis cinerea) in grape crops. Gowan Brasil advised that the product should be applied to crops at the first signs of symptoms.

Gowan Brasil said, "Higher doses should be used in situations of high disease pressure, history of occurrence in the area, or favorable conditions for disease development." The application method for Perimeter, is foliar spraying over the crop, the company added.

Trigard

Another product presented by Gowan Brasil at Hortitec 2024 was Trigard, formulated with Cyromazine. 

The product, recommended for various crops such as vegetables, ornamental plants, and beans, delivers "excellent results," the manufacturer said.

"This product is essential for controlling the larval stage of the leaf miner (Liriomyza), as it interrupts the insect's development while also delivering low residue levels in crops," the company highlighted.
